Black money issue - Naidu

Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu, said that the party if voted to power in the coming Lok Sabha elections, would leave no stone unturned to bring back black money deposited by Indians in Swiss banks.
Addressing a press conference, Naidu said that the party would try and unearth the black money deposited by Indians in Swiss banks which was estimated to be somewhere around Rs 25 lakh crore. “The situation is ripe for that as most of the countries, in the backdrop of economic recession, had realised the importance of bringing back the black money deposited in some ‘tax haven’ countries,” he said, suggesting that the Prime Minister take up the issue in a big way in the coming G-8 summit. Giving indications that the BJP would make this an election issue, Naidu said that the party would conduct a mock poll throughout the country on April 6 to educate the youngsters on the issue and also to know whether they wanted the black money to be brought back to India or not. This apart, all CMs of the BJP-ruled states would write to the PM urging him to make serious attempts to bring back the black money.
“It has become a matter of concern as there are apprehensions that this money could be used by the terrorists,” he added.
‘Varun not a criminal’
On Varun Gandhi being charged under the National Security Act for allegedly making an inflammatory speech, Naidu termed it an atrocious and politically-motivated act by the UP government.
“Varun is not a criminal or a terrorist or an agent of any other country. How can a nationalist like him be booked under NSA?,” Naidu questioned and warned the UP CM that her decision to invoke NSA against Varun would prove counter-productive and would boomerang on her.
