500 Job Cuts - West Bengal

500 Job Cuts even in Government Transports - West Bengal.

West Bengal Government plans to terminate 500 transport corp. employees , due to their old age & physical conditions. West Bengal Government has its own transport Corp. some of the employees could not able work properly because of the above mentioned problems. In this situation Government has collected the list of employees who are not able to work properly . List comes around 500 employees. Inclusive of driver and conductor , it comes nearly 500 employees. Government has issued the disqualified person list for VRS (Voluntary Retirement Service). For this West Bengal government has to spend 25 Crores for their settlement.

In India, it is pointed out that value added tax (VAT) levied high for edible items rather than ornaments. From April, 2005 value added tax came into force by replacing sales tax. Around 550 items introduced with VAT, among this 4% VAT for 270 items and remaining levied with 12.5% VAT. For jewels and ornaments only 1% VAT is levied.

In wholesale diamond jewels and stones business, only 4% items are properly billed and sold . Critics pointed out that, for diamond jewels, Britain levying 17% VAT and Sweden levying 25% VAT .
