Macaroni and Cheese, Dressed Up

Here are several ideas to dress up plain old macaroni and cheese and turn it into a true family meal that even adults will enjoy.

Start from scratch. Homemade macaroni and cheese suggest the taste of a box and powdered cheese anywhere. Here is a simple recipe to create your base of macaroni and cheese:

  • 1 package macaroni
  • 1 c. grated Colby Jack cheese
  • 1 c. grated cheddar cheese

Sprinkle with flour :

Boil your macaroni shells until soft. Place in a 9 x 13 inch pan and sprinkle enough flour to easily cover your shells. Add grated cheese on top. Cover and bake in 350 degree oven for 1 / 2 hour. Uncover the last 5 minutes of baking.

You can add almost anything to the database. You can add minced meat or ground turkey. You can add cut up hot dogs for the kids. Macaroni and cheese with bacon :

Ingredients :

  1. Uncooked Elbow Macaroni - 2 cups
  2. Bacon - ¼ pounds
  3. Condensed Milk - 1 Cup
  4. Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  5. Grated onion - 2 tbsp
  6. Flour - 3 tbsp
  7. Butter - 2 tbsp
  8. Shredded Cheddar Cheese - 6 Ounces
  9. Salt & Pepper - to taste

Directions :

  • Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water per the instructions provided. Drain liquid into a measure 2 cups. Add a little water if required.
  • Fry bacon and drain all the fat after keeping a tablespoon of it aside.
  • In macaroni liquid, add the bacon fat and butter, and set it on medium flame. Pipes flour and then condensed milk with 2 cups water.
  • Stir the mixture constantly until it begins to boil.
  • Season mixture with salt, pepper, onion and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add cheese and heat the mixture slowly until the cheese melts
  • Now add the pasta and heat the entire mixture is piping hot.
  • Serve warm with crumbled bacon on top.

Macaroni and cheese croquette :

This is a very useful recipe you can make croquette with leftover cheese and macaroni.

Ingredients :

  1. Side Stone Cheese and Macaroni

  3. Bread Crumbs - 1 Cup

Directions :

  2. Cream of mushroom soup - 1 Can
  3. Tuna (flaked and dried) - 1 Cup
  4. Milk - ¾ Cup
  5. Shredded Cheddar Cheese - 3 Cups
  6. Salt & Pepper - to taste

Directions :

  • Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water per the instructions provided.
  • Add cream of mushroom soup, milk, tuna, pepper, salt and 2 cups of shredded cheese to macaroni. Mix the whole mixture.
  • Transfer mixture to a shallow and easy butter baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese over macaroni and bake for about 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

Macaroni and Cheese with Green Chile :

Ingredients :

  1. Cooked Macaroni - 6 Cups
  2. Cheese Sauce Mix - 2 packages
  3. Chopped Onions - 1 Cup
  4. Shredded Cheddar Cheese - 3 Cups
  5. Milk - ¾ Cups
  6. Green Chile - 1 Can
  7. Butter - 4 Ounces

Directions :

  • In a medium saucepan, make the cheese sauce per instructions provided.
  • Add in 1 cup cheese and the chopped green Chile.
  • In a small skillet, sauté onion in butter until it becomes golden brown in color.
  • Add the onions in cheese sauce and mix well.
  • Spread the pre-cooked macaroni in a casserole dish and mix in cheese sauce.
  • Top the pot with the remaining cheese and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
